What is our history

The WildlifeHospital started in 1993 as a private idea of the two keepers, joined the "Animal-lovers Society of Lesvos " in the end of 1995 as a "Centre for injured Birds and Special Kinds of Animals", and is an independent Society since the end of 1996 with its recent name and logo. The WildlifeHospital is a member of the E.W.R.A. (European Wildlife Rehabilitation Association), is associated with the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and is supported by the GAR (Greek Animal Rescue) in England and the Foundation “Dierenhulp” (“Animal-care) in Holland.

Wo are they and what are they doing?

Joris and Ineke are enthusiastic animal-lovers with lots of luggage in knowledge and experience. Their aim is to lessen animal suffering. suffering.                                                                                                                         Goals :                                                                                                                                                     
1)  Treatment of injured, shot, ill, wild animals/birds and releasing them on a save place in nature after rehabilitation. The intention is that animals/birds should be kept as wild as possible. (A few examples : birds of prey, owls, tortoises, reptiles etc.)                                                                                        
2)  First aid to pets and strays. There is no shelter, so the animals cannot be kept.                               
3)  Trying to promote knowledge and animal-love to the people and schools of Lesbos.
